The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Over Size Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Response

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
